No More Signs and Wonders? | Matthew 12:38-42

He's enough

Do you ever wish for a sign from God?

For Him to open the skies and prove that He’s up there, listening to you?

I used to pray that as a younger Christian. That God would show me a sign that He was out there.

It’s only as an adult that I’ve come to understand this passage.

38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” 39 But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here. 42 The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

Matthew 12:38-42

He is the greatest sign there ever was or will be.

The Son of God, maker of the heavens and the earth, came down to live amongst His creation, and not only that, but to die for His creation.

What greater sign could there be?

He’s one of, if not the most, accurately documented persons on the face of the planet.

The evidence of His ministry and work is undeniable.

The things that He said and the things that He did were perfectly aligned.

So many things about Jesus are undeniable.

There’s no need for more.

He’s it.

And He’s enough.

Have a blessed Tuesday, friends.
