The Narrow Gate | Matthew 7:12-14
Don't take the easy path
I’ve said it many times throughout writing these devotionals, but Christianity is hard.
It’s supposed to be.
Satan has such a strong hold on our world that following Christ means a life of persecution and suffering.
But better to enter through the narrow gate at the end of life.
12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
If you were to ask Christians today whether their lives were easy or hard, what would you expect their answers to be?
Jesus is very clear though.
Those who take the easy road of seeking man’s approval rather than God’s, seeking money over God, living for themselves rather than for God, etc. are headed to destruction in the end.
Those who choose to seek God's approval over men, live selflessly, and seek God in the midst of persecution will lead to life at the end of all days.
The world is constantly pulling us towards the wide gate. It’s tempting to want to follow the crowd and live a “good” life by the world’s standards.
It helps to remember that it’s all temporary. Living for Christ means living for eternal things.
Have a blessed Monday, friends.
