Build Your House on the Rock! | Matthew 7:24-27

You know where I'm going with this one

I’ve built a few rudimentary houses in Mexico.

The first day is always the hardest because it’s foundation day. Hand-mixed, hand-poured, bucket by bucket into a square frame that the house will eventually stand on.

If we were to build the house directly on the dirt, there’s no chance of it surviving harsh conditions.

That concept applies to our faith too.

24  “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25  And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26  And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27  And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

Matthew 7:24-27

Every word we read in Scripture that we commit to action is like adding another bucket of concrete to our foundation.

I’m sure you sense the trend of the past few days. It’s all the same deal.

To guard against the temptations of the wide gate, false prophets, and building your house upon sand, we have to know God’s Word.

If not, we’ll be shaken up by every false teaching, every emotional response, every instance of church hurt.

Humans are horribly inconsistent. We let each other down all the time.

Jesus is the only 100% trustworthy man to ever have lived.

Let’s trust Him.

Have a blessed Thursday, my friends.
