Beware Hypocrites | Matthew 12:33-37

Fear the judgement

Ever have a moment when you blurt out something that you instantly regret?

Perhaps it’s something that you say out of anger or frustration.

But if you’re at that point, the thoughts have likely been simmering in your brain for a while, and it all comes out when you reach your limit.

33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. 36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Matthew 12:33-37

I’m not saying that you’re a bad person.

Jesus is.

But it’s ok because we’re all bad people.

(That was a joke, by the way. Kinda.)

What I mean by that is that we are bad people. But He’s given us the key to becoming good people.

Himself. His Word.

The person who loves the Lord and His Word will produce good, just as He says.

And that’s the person that I want to become.

I’m not there yet, but I’m trying.

What about you?

Have a blessed Monday, friends.
